Manager, Business Development

Position Title: Manager, Business Development, United States

Reports to: Executive Director, Business Development

Location: Hybrid, Newark, NJ. (On-site 3 days per week required)

Position Summary:

As the Manager of Business Development at BioCentriq, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of our organization through business development activities. This role will require a hunter mindset and strategic thinking. The candidate will have a proven track record generating and qualifying leads, identifying opportunities, negotiating and closing sales, and generating revenue.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead Generation:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive lead generation strategies to identify and engage potential clients.
  • Proactive cold outreach to target market ensuring an appropriate cadence for follow up.
  • Utilize market research, industry analysis, and networking to identify new business opportunities.

2. Lead Conversion and Qualification:

  • Manage the end-to-end business development pipeline, ensuring a continuous flow of qualified leads.
  • Work closely with the cross-functional teams to assess project feasibility and align with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with the Commercialization Associates to maximize utilization of third-party resources and execution of outreach campaigns.

3. Proposal Development:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Directors of Business Development to lead the qualification of opportunities, and the development of proposals, and other supporting materials required to move opportunities forward, internally, and externally.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proposals meet client expectations and align with company capabilities.

4. Opportunity Management:

  • Effectively manage and report on opportunity pipeline through the CRM.
  • Advance opportunities through each stage of the sales process through an adept ability to understand client needs.
  • Align BioCentriq’s services, capabilities, and expertise to the client timeline, funding, regulatory strategy, etc.
  • Negotiate and close sales with an emphasis on generating revenue

5. Market Analysis and Strategy:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to inform business development strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term business plans and strategies to drive sustainable growth.
  • Maintain service offering knowledge through participation in on-site tours, sales meetings, and other training opportunities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or PhD preferred.
  • Proven experience in business development with a strong hunter mindset, preferably, in cell therapy CDMO.
  • Established network in cell and gene therapy with access to appropriate contacts and thought leaders in cell therapy.
  • Demonstrated success in lead generation, pipeline management, and revenue generation.
  • Proficient in Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of contract development and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
